Dear friends and neighbors,
As your U.S. Senator for Ohio, my goal is to make your life easier and more affordable by getting government out of the way and out of your business. That’s why my first bill to become law cut red tape instead of adding to it.

I'm grateful for my conversations and connections with Ohioans during Husted Huddles. Check out a video of our recent event here.
Passed into law
Ohioans didn’t like standing in line to renew a driver’s license in person when their government could make that process faster and easier online. They didn’t like wading through 17 million words of state regulations that were outdated or contradicted themselves.
For more than 25 years, Ohioans have been sharing with me how frustrating bureaucracy can be, so it’s no accident that my first bill to become federal law eliminated regulations for hardworking Americans instead of adding to them.
My law reversed a Biden-era regulation that forced unreasonable energy-efficiency standards on an array of the appliances you use to make your home run smoothly. Those regulations make dishwashers and air conditioners more expensive. Ohioans don’t need extra burdens. And you don’t deserve to be tangled in red tape. As I hit my 100th day in office, the Senate sent my bill to the president’s desk to undo a rule that does nothing for Ohio except make life more complicated.
I’m also bringing Ohio common sense to Washington by leading a bill that would use AI to identify and cut useless regulations. It’s inspired by the success that we had in Ohio by using an AI tool to highlight outdated, conflicting, or redundant content in the state code. Shaving unnecessary words from Ohio’s code should save 58,000 state-employee man-hours and $44 million over 10 years. You can read more about my plan to simplify federal regulations in a similar way here.
While Congress is making more progress on extending tax cuts—to prevent a $4 trillion tax hike on Americans and restore fiscal sanity to the federal budget—I recognize what Ohioans routinely tell me: The complicated, absurd library of federal regulations is one of the biggest barriers to creating new jobs and paying higher wages. Too many misguided rules have killed too many dreams and opportunities.
That needs to change, and I’ll keep working to make the law and your lives simpler. Every Ohioan should be able to achieve their own version of the American dream, and that’s why I’m committed to championing regulatory reform that makes sense for you.
