“I value hearing directly from them about their priorities, and that’s why I supported the Working Families Tax Cuts Act—so Ohio workers can keep more of what they earn through no tax on tips and no tax on overtime.”

BRUNSWICK, OH – Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) today held a roundtable in Brunswick with local restaurant employees and representatives from the Ohio Restaurant & Hospitality Alliance to hear their priorities and discuss how the Working Families Tax Cuts Act benefits restaurant workers.
“The Ohioans I met with today are the backbone of our state’s economy and integral to what makes Ohio great. I value hearing directly from them about their priorities, and that’s why I supported the Working Families Tax Cuts Act—so Ohio workers can keep more of what they earn through no tax on tips and no tax on overtime,” said Husted.
Husted supported the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, which became law in July 2025. The law lowers taxes for working Ohioans and their families, supports job creation and strengthens small businesses by:
- Preventing tax hikes that would cost the average American family of four earning $80,000 an extra $1,700 in federal taxes.
- The average Ohio household would have owed an additional $2,140 in federal taxes if Republicans had not passed the budget law.
- Protecting 20% small business deduction, benefitting 842,000 Ohio small businesses.
- Increasing the child tax credit to $2,200, making it permanent and indexing it to inflation. This increase benefits 1.3 million Ohio families.
- Including no taxes on tips and no taxes on overtime pay.
