Dear friends and neighbors,
Former President Joe Biden and the radical left spent years implementing open-border policies that let millions of illegal immigrants into our country completely unvetted. This made our communities in Ohio less safe as crime and fentanyl overdoses soared.
When I traveled to the southern border last year, federal agents told me that during the Biden-Harris administration, their orders were to process people entering the country illegally as quickly as possible and release them into the country.
This was reckless and put American lives in jeopardy.
Americans made their voices heard and rejected policies that kept our borders unchecked. Instead, they supported commonsense immigration enforcement that keeps Americans safe and upholds our nation’s right to secure our own border.
On June 25, 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court also rejected the policies of open borders and chaos in our communities. This is a big win for law and order, a big win in supporting our federal law enforcement agents who put themselves in harm’s way every day to keep us safe, and a big win for safer streets and communities across Ohio and America.
Our efforts are paying off. It has been nearly 17 months since we terminated the Biden policy of “catch and release,” and there have been ZERO illegal immigrants released into the United States in more than a year.
There is more work to be done, but the Supreme Court validated federal law enforcement agents’ important work to keep us safe. We will continue making our communities and our country stronger every day.
