Sen. Husted has the honor of nominating well-qualified students from Ohio to the United States Service Academies. Graduates of the service academies are leaders who have accepted the call to serve our nation in the armed forces.

Eligible applicants must be:

• Unmarried citizens of the United States with no dependents, and;
• At least 17 years old but not past their 23rd birthday on the first of July of the year they wish to be admitted, and;
• A resident of Ohio. You, or your parents, must claim Ohio as your primary state of residence.

In order to be considered for one of the nation’s service academies you must:

• Contact the academy directly to open a pre-candidate file.
• Complete the Academy Application Form, which includes supplying a copy of your high school transcript, your ACT/SAT scores, resume, a 1-2 page essay explaining why you wish to attend a military academy and your career aspirations, and three letters of recommendation (one letter should be from either your high school principal, a guidance counselor, or one of your teachers). All of these items can be uploaded with the online application or submitted together in one packet by September 12th to Sen. Husted’s Columbus office, Attn: Service Academy Coordinator.
