“I’m grateful that we can shine a light on the Damschroders’ incredible work and give them the recognition they’ve earned.”
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) Angels in Adoption selected Sen. Jon Husted’s (R-Ohio) recommendations, Matthew and Carrie Damschroder, as 2025 Angels in Adoption Honorees.
“I’m grateful that we can shine a light on the Damschroders’ incredible work and give them the recognition they’ve earned. I began my life in a foster home until my loving parents adopted me, so this is an issue that’s close to my heart. Adoption saves lives, provides kids with safe and permanent homes and makes families whole,” said Husted.
CCAI is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization founded in 2001 to eliminate the barriers that prevent children from being part of a safe, nurturing and permanent family. CCAI’s Angels in Adoption Leadership Program honors individuals and organizations making extraordinary contributions in adoption, permanency and child welfare. Members of Congress nominate individuals to receive the Angels in Adoption award.
Matthew Damschroder directs the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The Damschroders are former foster parents who have two adopted children. The CCAI selected these parents for their impactful work and advocacy in adoption.
This recommendation is part of Husted’s ongoing support for adoption and foster care families. The Senate passed Husted’s resolution to recognize May as National Foster Care Month earlier this year.
