Dear friends and neighbors,
As your U.S. Senator, I’m committed to top-tier customer service. Whether I’m on the ground in Ohio or advancing your priorities in Washington, I’m meeting with Ohioans face-to-face, by phone, and keeping in touch through mail. Especially during this government shutdown, I want you to know that my team and I are here to help.

I connected with more than 20,500 northwest Ohioans to discuss what the shutdown means for them.
Hearing from you
I recently hosted a telephone town hall to hear what the shutdown means for you, your families, and your neighbors and share an update about the ongoing government shutdown.
I had the chance to talk with a retired Marine, a former air traffic controller, and many Ohioans who have directly felt the impacts of the halt of federal services.

Ohioans are concerned about making ends meet. They’re frustrated the Senate can’t make a deal to pay our troops and federal workers. That’s why I made a commitment to refuse my paycheck until Congress votes to reopen the government. I cannot accept my pay while our military and other public servants are denied a paycheck.
I shared that I’ve voted to keep the government open 11 times, and I’ll continue to until the government is open and working again for Ohioans. A few more Senate Democrats need to join Senate Republicans to reach the 60-vote threshold to reopen the government. All Senate Republicans are asking for is to pass a clean continuing resolution, which means simply extending current funding levels to keep the government open temporarily while debates continue. This shouldn’t be complicated, as Senate Democrats voted YES on clean continuing resolutions 13 times under Biden.
I’m grateful for every person who took the time to share their thoughts and experiences with me. I reached out to constituents from northwest Ohio for this telephone town hall, but I plan to call Ohioans across every region of our state so we can stay connected on all of your priorities.
On the call, I asked listeners questions to see where they stand on issues related to the shutdown, and here are the results:

During telephone town halls, I want to make sure we talk about the issues you care about and listen to your voice.

Understanding your priorities is the best way for me to represent Ohioans effectively in the Senate, and I’m always grateful for your insights.
