Dear friends and neighbors,
Ohioans know a strong workforce powers a strong economy. That’s why we’re continuing to strengthen Ohio’s best-in-class workforce.
As Ohio’s lieutenant governor, I focused on expanding career tech education and pioneered job training programs like TechCred to give every Ohioan a way to earn the credentials they need to land in-demand, high-paying jobs.

Watch here.
As your U.S. Senator, I helped pass the Working Families Tax Cuts Act to support this momentum by giving employers the confidence to invest, grow, and hire. I fought to include Workforce Pell Grants into the bill, which will soon make short-term, high-quality training programs eligible for federal financial aid.
Today, Ohioans are telling me that those investments are paying off. Employers across Ohio are partnering with career tech programs to hire students before they even graduate from high school.
Real-life stories
Ohio Gratings CBO Shaun Ekker shares that the investments made in career tech during my time as lieutenant governor, combined with the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, have allowed his company to hire more career-tech students and continue building Ohio’s next generation of skilled workers.
Workers at Ohio Gratings agree!
- Jeremy says career tech education provided a head start on the manufacturing career he always wanted.
- Elise says the program “changed my life,” giving her the opportunity to pursue a career she loves without taking on the financial burden of a four-year degree.
- Steven shares that our work has “really helped these students,” and that a career tech education prepared him for a high-demand manufacturing job. He interviewed and was hired within a week!

I’ve met with career tech students across our state to hear about how they’re earning while learning.
Whether students choose college, an apprenticeship, military service, or a skilled trade, I want every Ohioan to be able to build a successful future and achieve their version of the American Dream.
As always, it is an honor to serve you in the United States Senate.
In your service,
Jon Husted
