Dear friends and neighbors,
When the Senate is not in session, I enjoy being back home traveling across our state and meeting with the people who make Ohio strong. Last week, I spent time with rural health care providers, business leaders, and manufacturers who are working every day to ensure Ohio remains one of the best places in the country for workers, entrepreneurs, and families.
Their efforts are helping fuel what the Wall Street Journal recently described as an economic renaissance across the Midwest, with growing communities and expanding opportunities in Akron, Canton, Cleveland, Columbus, and Dayton. I had the opportunity to see that momentum firsthand during my travels across Ohio.
Strengthening rural health care

If you want to live in a prosperous community, you need access to quality health care. Last week, I hosted CMS Administrator Dr. Oz for a visit to Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine to discuss the importance of rural hospitals and the funding we helped secure for Ohio through the Rural Health Transformation Fund.
Many Ohioans living in rural communities depend on hospitals like Mary Rutan to access quality care close to home. The Rural Health Transformation Fund will help strengthen rural hospitals across our state and ensure Ohioans continue to have access to the care they need and deserve.
Supporting Ohio businesses

Ohio continues to lead the way with innovation that moves America forward. I joined leaders at the Youngstown Business Incubator and Innovation Hub for a roundtable discussion with Mahoning Valley business leaders about the opportunities and challenges facing Ohio’s business community.
Ohio has come a long way, but there is still more work to do, and our brightest days are still ahead because of people willing to work hard and believe in our future.
Made-in-Ohio

Right here in Cleveland, Ohio, workers are manufacturing equipment that protects our military and law enforcement officers across the globe. I joined Team Wendy workers in Cleveland to visit their facility and discuss the company’s manufacturing efforts.
You can’t do Made-in-America without Made-in-Ohio, and the workers I met with at Team Wendy prove that every day.
