Dear friends and neighbors,
From the Husted family to yours, we hope you and your loved ones had a blessed Christmas and a restful and joyful holiday season.
As we head into the new year, I’ve reflected on how I began 2025. I became your U.S. Senator on January 21 when J.D. Vance became the Vice President of the United States. I started on day one without staff, an office, a phone, or even a pencil! Over the past year, my team and I have hit the ground running to deliver real results for Ohio’s families and workers.
From returning more than $4.5 million to Ohioans and solving meaningful problems for families, to passing a budget law that lowers taxes for hardworking Ohioans, this has been a productive year, and we are just getting started.
Providing real results: Three bills signed into law in Year 1
One of my top priorities as your U.S. Senator is making life easier and more affordable for Ohioans. I’m proud to have already had three of my bills signed into law—delivering outcomes that make a true difference for families across our state.

Making safe medicines cheaper and more accessible
I introduced the SMART OTC Act to modernize the FDA’s process for giving more prescription drugs status as over-the-counter (OTC) options. The president signed this bipartisan bill into law, which will help families save time and money.
Giving families more choices at a lower cost
My resolution that became law reversed a Biden-era energy regulation that forced unreasonable energy-efficiency standards on an array of appliances that families and businesses use every day. Those regulations made household items like dishwashers and washing machines more expensive.
Restoring essential support for the Great Lakes
Finally, Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) and my Great Lakes Fishery Research Reauthorization Act was signed into law to protect Ohio’s Great Lakes. This legislation renews critical funding for scientific research that supports conservation efforts and ensures the long-term health of our beautiful lakes.
Lowering taxes for working families
In addition, I was proud to support the budget law passed in July, which lowers taxes for working Ohioans and their families. This legislation helps Ohioans keep more of what they earn, supports job creation and small businesses, strengthens border security, and reinforces America’s national defense—making our country safer, stronger, and more prosperous.
Securing funding to strengthen Ohio
Through the package to reopen the government in November, I secured $30 million to begin construction of the Human Performance Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, $1 million for a rural facility in Coshocton to improve the community’s and visitors’ health, and $999,000 for a lab modernization for Holzer Health System in Gallipolis.
Ohioans can always count on me to put Ohio first and stand fully behind our troops. I was proud to support the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which the president signed into law. The NDAA includes $60 million for different Ohio military projects that will help build the next generation of American defense, strengthening the safety and security of our nation.
Lastly, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will also award Ohio more than $202 million for Fiscal Year 2026 as part of the Rural Health Transformation Fund. The Rural Health Transformation Fund was created by the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, which I was proud to support in July. I fought for the creation of the fund to support Ohio’s network of rural hospitals. Continued funding for Ohio under this program will provide more than $1 billion over the next five years to support rural health care access in the state.
Hearing from Ohioans

Staying in regular communication with Ohioans is a core part of my commitment to customer service. This year, I’ve had the opportunity to reach more than 1 million Ohioans this year through telephone town hall halls where folks joined me to ask questions or discuss topics that are important to them, such as health care, cost of living, and energy prices. I’ve also held more than 400 face-to-face meetings with constituents and sent more than 400,000 pieces of mail to Ohioans who reached out with questions or concerns.
As we head into 2026, I look forward to continuing this commitment to excellent customer service and making sure you always have a voice in Washington.
