Dear friends and neighbors,
We’ve seen a rise in fentanyl-related deaths and criminal illegal immigrants hurting people in our communities because of the last administration’s open border policies. In 2023 alone, fentanyl related substances stole the lives of more than 3,500 Ohioans.
I’ve been working to secure the border and keep Ohioans safe by getting critical resources to our law enforcement heroes. That’s why this budget law is so important.
One way I’m protecting Ohioans is by supporting the HALT Fentanyl Act. This law makes the temporary class-wide scheduling order for fentanyl-related substances permanent. This closes a dangerous loophole that drug traffickers exploit to flood our neighborhoods with opioids.
The bill passed both the House of Representatives and the Senate and was signed into law by the president on July 16, 2025. This is a key step forward in my work to make Ohio communities safer and more prosperous.
The current administration has driven illegal crossings to record lows and helped law enforcement crack down on fentanyl. The Republican budget law strengthens this effort by funding more border patrol agents, improving facilities, and boosting air and marine operations that intercept drug traffickers and vet foreign nationals entering the country.

I’ll keep fighting for strong immigration policies to secure the border by keeping criminals, cartels, and terrorists off our soil and out of our communities.
