“My first bill to become law repeals regulations to make everyday life easier and more affordable for Americans. Giving consumers more options for their household appliances is part of keeping our promise to lower costs for hardworking taxpayers as we make our economy stronger. I’ll keep working with our president to restore American prosperity.”
WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump today signed Sen. Jon Husted’s (R-Ohio) Congressional Review Act resolution of disapproval into law. Husted’s resolution will give consumers more choices at lower costs by reversing a burdensome Biden energy requirement on household appliances.
“My first bill to become law repeals regulations to make everyday life easier and more affordable for Americans. Giving consumers more options for their household appliances is part of keeping our promise to lower costs for hardworking taxpayers as we make our economy stronger. I’ll keep working with our president to restore American prosperity,” said Husted.
Background:
Husted’s resolution would nullify the Energy Conservation Program for Appliance Standards: Certification Requirements, Labeling Requirements, and Enforcement Provisions for Certain Consumer Products and Commercial Equipment rule, which the Biden Energy Department published in October 2024.
The Biden administration’s additional certification, labeling and reporting requirements increase costs and reduce choice for everyday Ohioans.
Husted’s effort rescinds the Biden certification, labeling and enforcement requirements for 20 household and commercial products—including dishwashers, central AC and heat pumps, washers and more.
The legislation passed the Senate on April 30, 2025 and passed the House of Representatives on March 5, 2025.
