Dear friends and neighbors,
Every American deserves confidence that our elections are secure, that every legal vote counts, and only eligible U.S. citizens participate.
As a longtime supporter and cosponsor of the SAVE America Act, I have consistently fought to get this bill through the United States Senate. I have voted for the SAVE America Act SIX separate times because I believe requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote and strengthening voter verification are commonsense steps that will help secure our elections. I will continue supporting these efforts until we see it signed into law.

As Ohio’s Secretary of State, my goal was simple: to make it easy to vote and hard to cheat. In Ohio, we have already implemented all of the components of the SAVE America Act, but other states do not meet our standards. Ohio has become the gold standard for secure elections, and I believe all Americans deserve the same level of confidence in their elections. Ohioans deserve to have confidence that federal elections are just as fair across the nation as they are in our state.
Ohio is one of 23 states that requires a photo ID to vote. That’s why I offered a clean amendment to establish a nationwide photo ID requirement at the polls, something 83% of Americans support. Unfortunately, Senate Democrats blocked it, but I will keep working toward getting this to be our standard.
Protecting the integrity of the ballot box strengthens the public’s trust in our elections and helps ensure they are administered fairly, efficiently, and securely.
