Dear friends and neighbors,

Many of you have known me over the last 25 years as I served Ohioans in our great state, and some of us are just getting the chance to connect. I have the new opportunity to share your values in Washington as I continue to listen to your voices at home, and you deserve to know more about who your senator is and why I take working on your behalf so seriously.

My life started out in a foster home before my loving parents, Jim and Judy, adopted me. My younger brother, sister, and I were raised in northwest Ohio’s Williams County. Montpelier cemented the importance of faith, family, and hard work in me, and those are still the foundation of my public service and the ties that led me to my wife, Tina. We made our home in Columbus and raised Alex, Katie, and Kylie there.

Of all the roles I’ve been thankful to fill, being a loving husband, father, and grandfather have been the most important. Tina and I became grandparents to Mae—Alex and Kathleen’s little girl—in 2023. We’re getting ready to send our older daughter, Katie, off to college this fall and are watching Kylie continue to grow as a competitive high school tennis player.

Before our family put down roots in Columbus, I graduated from Montpelier High School and then became a defensive back at the University of Dayton. My years playing football and working to bring jobs and investment to the Miami Valley reminded me that public service demands a tremendous work ethic and the awareness that I’m always part of a team. Only by hearing your perspective and collaborating with my colleagues in every part of government can I serve you faithfully.

That was my commitment when I won election to the Ohio House of Representatives in 2000. I kept teamwork in mind when, as speaker of Ohio’s House, I helped achieve the largest income tax cut in Ohio’s history and got rid of three business taxes. These reforms fueled an economic revitalization in Ohio—the kind of economic growth that has been the focus of my service.

As a father of three, I’ve prioritized setting the next generation up for success by expanding educational freedom for Ohio children through the creation of the EdChoice Scholarship. During my time as your lieutenant governor, I expanded career technical education so more Ohio students have access to skills training and can graduate high school career-ready.

As Ohio’s secretary of state, I helped make Ohio the least costly state in the Midwest for businesses to get started and keep their doors open by bringing down the cost for starting a business in Ohio by 21%. In the span of five years, during my tenure as Lieutenant Governor, more than 60 companies moved their operations from coastal states to Ohio.

Championing American innovation was my priority throughout my time in state service, and I’ll continue to elevate Ohioans’ talent and elbow grease by supporting policies that lead to good jobs in our state.

I serve Ohioans in every corner of our state, whether they need help navigating a federal agency or are applying to a service academy. Customer service is my overarching priority, and my team and I have established offices across Ohio to build on our work for all 11.9 million of our neighbors. You can find the office locations on my website at www.husted.senate.gov. There’s more to come as we’re still expanding this site, and you can send your thoughts to me anytime here.

It’s my privilege to hear from you at home, and I’d love to shake your hand at a Husted Huddle if you find yourself in our nation’s capital.
