“Cutting red tape to produce domestic energy would lower prices for Ohioans, revive our economy and strengthen national security. I’m supporting this bill to allow America to do what America does best—produce clean, reliable and affordable energy.”

WASHINGTON – Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) joined Sen. Tim Scott’s (R-S.C.) Unlocking Domestic LNG Potential Act. This bill would place the liquified natural gas (LNG) permitting process in the jurisdiction of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and eliminate the U.S. Department of Energy’s authority over LNG exports.

“After four years under the bureaucratic weight of the Biden Administration, we now have a president who will unleash our nation’s full energy potential. Cutting red tape to produce domestic energy would lower prices for Ohioans, revive our economy and strengthen national security. I’m supporting this bill to allow America to do what America does best—produce clean, reliable and affordable energy,” said Husted.

During the Biden energy crisis, his administration made an ill-advised decision to halt the approval process for liquified natural gas exports, halting America’s then-booming natural gas exports.

“Unlocking American energy production not only plays a vital role in safeguarding our national security, but is the path to lowering energy costs for families across the nation. Relying on bad actors undoubtedly puts America last, not first. With President Trump back in office, we will be energy independent and dominate once again,” said Scott.

Sens. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.), Ted Budd (R-N.C.), Katie Britt (R-Ala.) and Rick Scott (R- Fla.) and Reps. John Joyce (R-Pa.), Julia Letlow (R-La.), Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.), Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas), Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), Stephanie Bice (R-Okla.), Roger Williams (R-Texas), Troy Balderson (R-Ohio), Craig Goldman (R-Texas), Randy Weber (R-Texas), Jodey Arrington (R-Texas), Dan Newhouse (R-Wash.), Jake Ellzey (R-Texas), Pete Sessions (R-Texas) and Brian Babin (R-Texas) also cosponsored the bill.

Rep. August Pfluger (R-Texas) leads the companion bill in the House of Representatives.
